Sesame Honey Tempeh

2 tablespoons sesame oil
1 lb tempeh, chopped into bite-size pieces
3 tablespoons honey
3 tablespoons tamari
2 tablespoons cold water
1 teaspoon cornstarch or arrowroot
1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
2 green onions, sliced
Optional: toasted sesames and cooked brown rice

  1. Heat 2 tablespoons oil in a large cast iron skillet over medium heat. Add tempeh and cook, stirring frequently, until beginning to brown, about 8 minutes.
  2. Combine honey, tamari, water, cornstarch and toasted sesame oil in a small bowl. Add to the pan and cook, stirring, until the sauce has thickened and coats the tempeh, about 1 minute.
  3. Serve over brown rice and sprinkle with green onions and sesame seeds.
