Certified Organic Retailer (Oryana 10th Street)

In 2002, Oryana’s 10th Street store was the first cooperative in the country to be named a Certified Organic Retailer, demonstrating Oryana’s long-standing commitment to the importance of certified organic food. Being a “Certified Organic” retailer means that we provide a level of assurance to our customers that the integrity of the organic products you purchase is protected from the farm to your shopping cart. To be certified we must comply with strict USDA rules that include storewide and departmental procedures, staff trainings, a filtered water supply, proper storage and handling of organic foods, and a paper trail of third party certifications to name just a few. Re-certification is done on a yearly basis, meaning you can rest assured these practices are fully maintained.

What’s in season?

Because we are so tied to our local growers and producers, Mother Nature is the true decider of when our produce arrives on our shelves. You can always ask our staff when you can expect your favorite products, or use our Seasonal Produce Calendar as a loose guide.
