Mawby Sparkling Wines – Oryana Fall Wine Tour

  in Blog

Mawby is synonymous with ‘sparkling’ in the northern Michigan region. This winery, located on the Leelanau Peninsula, is known for care in winemaking (fermenting their sparkling wines twice instead of carbonating) and sustainable practices. (Read about their work to preserve their beautiful land and community here).

We checked in with them to see what this season of change is bringing:

What Mike Laing, Director of MAWBYness is currently drinking:
We are drinking some new fall releases which are featured in our wine club shipment and then will be released to the public (see more about them below!) as well as bigLITTLE Wines’ Gamay Noir called Underdog.

For this fall, the tasting room is suggesting:
Gold (a Traditional Method Sparkling wine 80/20 Pinot Noir/chardonnay aged 27 months en tirage), and BBRedd (a Bourbon Barrel-Aged version of our classic Redd Sparkling Wine called…Redd).  We also recommend that folks make a reservation before they visit to secure a tasting experience. Reservations can be made here: exploretock.com/mawby

Mike’s favorite view on property for fall colors:
Mawby’s ‘pinnacle’ view offers a beautiful fall color perspective in nearly every direction!

What are your suggested pairings for the upcoming holiday season?
bigLITTLE Gamay pairs perfectly with Thanksgiving dinner (check Oryana’s Turkey and Sides recipes for great inspiration). The Gold would be nice with roasted chicken and mushroom dishes, and the BBRedd is delightful with a burger
