These cookies are fabulous when they are slightly warm, especially with a scoop of vanilla ice cream! Big enough to share but so delicious you’ll want one all to yourself.

3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, room temperature
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup cane sugar
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 10 oz. bag semi-sweet chocolate chunks
1 cup walnuts, coarsely chopped

  1. Heat oven to 375°F. Line two pans with parchment paper or silicone sheets.
  2. In a large bowl mix together the flour and baking soda.
  3. In a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat together the butter, sugar, and salt until smooth and creamy. Add the eggs and vanilla and beat until combined. Scrape down the sides of the bowl. Add flour mixture and beat on low just until combined. Add chocolate chips and walnuts and beat again just until combined.
  4. Divide the dough into 8 rough balls. Don’t pack the dough too tightly. They can be somewhat loose and irregular. Place them onto the prepared baking sheets, 4 cookies per pan. Bake for 18-20 minutes, until cookies are browned at the edges and lightly browned on top. Let cool for a few minutes before transferring cookies to a wire rack to cool completely.
