Apple Pie Baked Camembert

1 camembert cheese round
1 red-skinned apple, any kind, cored, halved, sliced thin (leave the peel on)
1 tablespoon butter
1/2 teaspoon apple pie spices i.e. cinnamon, cloves, ginger
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons water

  1. Heat oven to 350°F. Cut a piece of parchment paper into a 9-inch square. Place the parchment on a baking sheet.
  2. Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat, add the sliced apple, and start sauteing until apples begis to soften and brown. Stir in the brown sugar and spices and cook another couple minutes. Add the water and cook another minute until you have a thickened sauce. Turn off the heat.
  3. Unwrap the cheese and place on the prepared pan. Mound the apples and sauce on top of the cheese and bake for 15 minutes. Serve immediately with crackers, small toasts, or small bread rounds.
