Glazed Ham

  in Main Dishes, Recipes

Ham is wonderful as is, but a sweet glaze contrasts beautifully with the saltiness of the ham, taking the whole thing up a notch. Pick the glaze of your choice and go to town!

1 spiral sliced ham
Glaze of your choice

Maple Glaze
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup maple syrup
1 tablespoon cider vinegar
2 tablespoons yellow mustard

Orange Soy Glaze
1/2 cup fresh orange juice
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

Honey Sriracha Glaze
1/2 cup honey
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 – 2 tablespoons Sriracha sauce
1 clove garlic, minced

Pineapple Apricot Ginger Glaze
1 cup pineapple chunks with juice
1 cup apricot preserves
2 tablespoons fresh ginger, minced

  1. Preheat oven to 300°F. Place ham cut side down on a rack in a shallow roasting pan. Cover pan tightly with foil and bake until a thermometer reads 130°F, about 1-1/2 to 2 hours.
  2. While ham bakes, in a saucepan, combine glaze ingredients, bring to a boil, reduce heat and cook about 1 minute. Let cool. (If making the pineapple glaze, blend in a blender until smooth.)
  3. Remove ham from oven. Pour or brush some of the glaze liberally over ham. Bake ham, uncovered, until a thermometer reads 140°F, about 30 minutes longer. Check after 15 minutes and brush with glaze again. Serve hot.
