Oryana’s Mission includes an emphasis on education and outreach on topics relating to good food and good health.
Here are just some of the ways we are working to connect you with the information that will empower you on your food journey!
Free Savvy Tours
Twice each month we take you on a Walk, Talk, and Taste through Oryana. Perfect for new shoppers or even seasoned shoppers who are interested in learning what’s new! These informal tours will introduce you to some of our favorite products and provide you with invaluable tips on how to save money. Contact our Customer Service Desk to find out the latest scheduled tour times.
Free Personal Health Tours
There are many reasons that people decide to make a change in their diet – a diagnosis, a rising health concern, a genuine want to lead a fuller, healthier life – but making those changes can be daunting. Will I still be able to eat the foods I love? Do I have to up my grocery spending because of a change in diet? How do I distinguish between all of the ingredients on the labels and find what’s right for me? Let us personally guide you through our aisles and help you find delicious, healthy options that will meet your personal needs. Contact our Education & Outreach Coordinator to set up your personal tour.
Whether a Girl Scout Troop, a group of Young Adults living with Disabilities, or a class of visiting Japanese exchange students, we can tailor a group store tour to just about any interest. The fun thing about food is that it is a great meeting ground for everyone! If you are interested in having a personally led tour of our store, contact our Education and Outreach Coordinator to discuss how we can make you feel welcome.
Oryana hosts and leads dozens of community outreach events each year helping to fulfill our Ends of spreading helpful, healthful food and environmental knowledge to our area. You can see all our upcoming events on our Events Page or, invite us to be a part of your upcoming event or health fair. We’ve partnered with local garden groups, human resources departments, non-profit organizations and medical professionals. Some of the classes we offer:
- How to Read and Understand Nutrition Label and Ingredient Lists
- Healthy Eating on a Budget (kids and adult versions available)
- Plant-based Living
- Brain Health (this can be expanded to other systems and organs)
- Living Greener: How to Lower Our Impact on the Earth
- Diets and Lifestyles
- Eating Clean During the Holidays
- Finding Empowerment in Food
If you are an instructor looking to host a local partner in your classroom we’d love to hear from you! Our team is able to provide informative and engaging classroom programs for all ages centering on the relationship of good food to good health, sustainable farming practices and the environmental impact, the difference of cooperative economics and more! Just tell us the learning objectives you hope to achieve and we will help craft a program that will captivate your students.
If there is a health or wellness topic that you don’t see represented in our current calendar and it is your area of expertise, you are welcome to contact us to see if we might collaborate together. Some of our favorite programs have come from ideas of our friends and neighbors! We may not be able to fulfill all requests, and we reserve the right to deny programs that we feel do not meet our educational goals, but ideas are always welcome.

We just can’t sit still around the store, so we love offering a full slate of cooking classes, demo events and engaging presentations. Check out our Events Page for the latest offerings.
If you don’t see a program that fits your particular needs here, simply reach out to our Education, Marketing, Outreach, and Events Department and let us know what you’d like to see!
