We will have a fresh meat sale starting Friday, July 19 and running through Sunday the 21st or until the meat runs out. Earthwork Farm fresh beef will be on sale at 10% off. Canning High Acid Foods using a Water-Bath Canner |

Learn the difference between high and low acid foods as well as the basics for safely canning high acid foods using a water-bath canner. Participants will become familiar with canning equipment and how to avoid food spoilage.

Canning Low Acid Foods using a Pressure Canner |

Learn the difference between high and low acid foods as well as the basics for safely canning low acid foods using a pressure canner. Participants will learn the latest USDA guidelines for canning low-acid foods and how to test their equipment for accuracy.

Monday, August 5, 6-8 pm Learn how to freeze foods safely while preserving the quality and texture of your fruits and vegetables. Participants will also explore various drying methods that dry foods effectively and reduce the incidence of spoilage.

Cooking with Kids at the Fair |
|
|
Top local chefs will turn kids on to the tastes of locally grown food, a variety of organizations will offer lots of new activities, and families will head home with simple, seasonal recipes. Children accompanied by an adult can join in on Cooking with Kids in the fair’s gazebo. Oryana will be offering fresh fruit smoothies. |

Dress up like it's 1973! It's our 40th anniversary and we'll be dressing up! Dig up your tie dye, dust off your bell bottoms and halter tops and enjoy a 1970s vibe today. Prizes for the best vintage/retro look!
July 10, 5 - 8 pm. Green Cuisine is Michigan’s first zero waste event and an expression of Food for Thought's mission to raise awareness around just and sustainable food systems and our best effort to promote the best in local food and sustainable business practices. Visitors will be able to meet and sample the works of local food and beverage artisans, tour Food For Thought’s organic farm and green buildings as well as socialize, learn and have fun in a beautiful setting. There will also be a green lifestyles tent where you can learn about other green local products and services. Oryana is a sponsor of Green Cuisine. The Archipelago Project runs a summer music program in Traverse City which combines professional musicians with young talented musicians from area schools. The project will be performing on the patio at Oryana, time TBA.
