Pear, Cabbage & Sausage Casserole

Serves 6

1 lb pork sausage
1 teaspoon sage
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
2 lbs ripe Bartlett pears; peeled cored, and diced
2 cups red cabbage, finely chopped
1/4 cup maple syrup
1 tablespoon butter melted

Heat oven to 350. Steam the red cabbage until softened, about 10 minutes. Let cool. Mix sausage, sage, salt and pepper together in a bowl.  Spread sausage in 9 x 12 inch greased baking dish. Cover with pears and cabbage and drizzle with maple syrup and melted butter. Bake for 45 minutes.
