Oryana Goddess Contest
Oryana Goddess Contest
When our co-op was first conceived in 1973, the founders decided to name it Oryana, which was inspired by a South American goddess. According to legend, Oryana, the Great Mother of the Earth, arrived at Tiahuanaco in Bolivia from a golden craft in the sky. She allegedly gave birth to 70 children and symbolizes fertility and abundance. But what does Oryana really look like? We have no idea. That’s where you come in!
Show us what you think she looks like!
In celebration of our 40th anniversary in 2013, we are seeking an artist’s interpretation of the Goddess Oryana. We will unveil the winning entry at the General Membership Meeting in April, 2013 and use it for various store purposes, as well as display it in the store. So get out your paint brushes, ink pens, or whatever your favorite medium is, and demonstrate what we’ve been wondering all these years...what does this goddess look like anyway?
What You’ll Get if You Win
A prize of course! We will award a $100 Oryana gift card and certificate of appreciation to the winning artist. And you'll have the satisfaction of knowing
that your design will be enjoyed by generations of Oryana members and shoppers to come.
