March Food Drive
March Food Drive to Help Homeless Families
For many of us it is hard to imagine that a child in our area is going to bed hungry. Yet some families in northern Michigan, due to various circumstances such as illness or loss of a job, face homelessness and hunger. Here's how you can help.
During the month of March, Oryana will be collecting nonperishable foods and cash donations to help our neighboring homeless families.
All nonperishables will be accepted and cash donations, which will be used to purchase fresh produce and other perishables, are greatly appreciated. The food will be distributed through Northwest Michigan Community Action Agency (NMCAA)
What families can use who are in temporary situations such as motel rooms:
- protein and granola bars
- dried fruit and nuts
- canned soups and other heat and eat items
- peanut butter
- instant hot cereals
- packaged trail mix
What families can use when they have been placed in new housing:
- pantry staples such as cooking oil, salt & pepper, mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, honey
- pasta sauce
