April 13, 2014
Come to this year’s Empty Bowls™ event on Sunday, April 13, 2014 from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm at the Hagerty Center, 715 E. Front Street, Traverse City.
Tickets are $15 per person, kids 6 and under are free. Tickets can be purchased securely online, at Goodwill Industries of Northern Michigan’s main office (2279 S. Airport Rd. W., Traverse City, MI), at Oryana, and at the door of the event (if still available). Oryana will donate soup for this event.
Empty Bowls™ is a grassroots effort to fight hunger. Area artists, educators and community members create handcrafted bowls, symbolizing the many hungry people around the world whose bowls are empty. At the event, guests are served a meal of soup and bread and receive one of these handcrafted bowls to take home.
The event will also feature a silent auction including donations from local businesses and artists! Silent auction and ticket proceeds will support the GOOD work of Food Rescue.
Food Rescue’s mission is to collect soon-to-expire fresh food and redistribute it, same-day, and free-of-charge, to our neighbors in need. Food is collected from many sources including grocery stores, restaurants, bakeries and farmers’ markets and delivered to area food pantries, shelters and community meal programs.
