What the World Eats

September 6, 2011, 4:09 pm

The United States

The images in this post come from the book “What the World Eats” by Faith D”Aluisio and Peter Menzel, a husband/wife team. Every day, millions of families around the world gather–at the table or on the floor, in a house or outdoors–to eat together. Ever wondered what a typical meal is like on the other side of the world? Or next door? Cultural geographers Peter Menzel and Faith D’Aluisio visited 25 families in 21 countries to create this fascinating look at what people around the world eat in a week.

Take a look at what a typical U.S. family eats in one average week (above) compared to other families around the world.

Chad

Ecuador

Eygpt

Japan

Italy

I wonder which family is healthiest out of this group of families. My best guess would be the families from Egypt, Chad, and Ecuador. This makes me a lot more conscious of the amount of fruits and vegetables I eat. Are you getting your 9 to 12 fruits and veggies a day? Article on this book
