Members, if you haven’t already voted for the non-profit organization of your choice for our Community Grant Program, you still have time to do so. Just drop by the store, read about the organizations that applied for the grant at Customer Service, get your ballot, and vote. Voting for the grant ends April 1.
Last year we gave $5000 to Bay Area Recycling for Charities, so as you can see, it is no small sum we are talking here. This year nearly 2 dozen non-profits applied. It is a tough decision because every one of them is a worthy choice. Several are food pantries, demonstrating the need our area exhibits right now just to keep people fed in our tight economy. We will announce the winner of the Community Grant at the General Membership Meeting on April 14. Details HERE.
But also, starting Monday, March 14, you can vote for new Board members in the store. There are 4 open seats on the board and currently 6 contenders, including 2 who are running for 2nd terms. The terms last 2 years. Voting for the Board of Directors runs through the General Membership Meeting on April 14. Note to members: you must be (have been) a member for 30 days prior to voting. This rule is in our bylaws. You can read about those people running for the board in the latest issue of Natural Food News.
Having a voice and a vote is one of the great things about being a member/owner of a co-op. So take advantage of this democratic process and help decide the future of our co-op. And help us grant an award to the organization you think most deserves it.
