Guacamole Alternatives

  in Blog

Let’s face it. What’s not to love about traditional guacamole with all it’s amazing creaminess? But maybe you have a craving for it and there are no avocados in sight. Or maybe your avocados are like rocks. If so, try one of these alternative guacs that are darn tasty too.

Broccamole

From Taste of Home

2 cups chopped broccoli, steamed until soft, chilled
¼ cup sour cream
3 tablespoons chopped sweet onion
1 tablespoon mayonnaise
3 tablespoons lemon juice
¼ teaspoon chili powder
sea salt to taste

In a food processor combine all the ingredients and blend until smooth. Refrigerate for several hours. Serve with veggies or tortilla chips.

Pea Guacamole

1  clove garlic, chopped
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/4 cup lemon  juice
1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil

salt and ground black pepper to taste
Fresh chopped cilantro

  1. Combine the peas, cumin, onion, garlic, and jalapeno, if using, in the container of a food processor and process until smooth.
