Calling All Gents!
Our new line-up of Fall cooking classes, which will be listed in the next newsletter, is sure to have something for most anyone interested in cooking. But we have a brand-new class to announce right now, Cooking For Men! This class will be taught by Bob Purvis, metalsmith and home cook extraordinaire. Bob is a whiz in the kitchen and will lead a lucky group of guys through preparing an awesome, four-course meal. Class size is limited. Please sign up at Customer Service.
Cooking for Men
Tuesday, Sept. 13, 6 - 8 p.m. Location: Grace Episcopal Church 341 Washington St. T.C. Cost: $20/members, $25/nonmembers
Just for guys, a class where you’re allowed to play with fire, use gadgets and sharp knives, and learn to make some great tasting, easy dishes. And then when you’re done, you can actually eat the results. These are easy recipes, nothing too fancy or difficult and nothing that takes too long to make. We will prepare a 4-course meal including appetizer, entrée, (Pasta with Kale, Sausage Onion & Jalapeno), salad, and dessert, (Bodacious Lemon Tart), worthy of impressing the special women in your life.
Wed. Sept. 21 - Join us on the patio for a Harvest Picnic in celebration of National Peace Day and for the 2nd Annual Zucchini Car Race! The Picnic will be from 11:30 -1:30 and the zucchini car building/decorating and racing is 3 - 5 pm.
Sat. Sept. 24 is Spa Day! Check out some wonderful happenings in our Wellness department including massages, facials, special discounts, and more.
Sun. Sept. 25 In honor of Native American Day, we will be celebrating with Native American dancing, drumming, and artwork. More details coming soon.

Gardeners and CSA shareholders are no doubt swimming in zucchini this time of year. And if you don't fit into the above categories, farmers markets and our Produce department are stocked with fresh, local zucchini. Try this recipe, adapted from Cooking Light, for a fast, easy, and kid-pleasing way to prepare zucchini.
Zucchini Oven Chips
1/4 cup dry breadcrumbs
1/4 cup grated fresh Parmesan cheese
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
black pepper to taste
¼ cup milk
2 1/2 cups (1/4-inch-thick) slices zucchini
Preheat oven to 425°. Whisk together first 5 ingredients in a bowl. Place milk in a shallow bowl. Dip zucchini slices in milk, and dredge in breadcrumb mixture. Place slices on an ovenproof wire rack coated with cooking spray; place rack on a baking sheet. Bake at 425° for 30 minutes or until browned and crisp.
